Oral Sedation Dentistry (OSD) is the most advanced medical procedure for the fearful dental patient. It leaves you remembering almost nothing of your visit.

OSD is safe, comfortable and effective. If you experience fear and anxiety at the dentist, OSD enables you to get the top-notch dental treatment you need without the overwhelming fear. It is also ideal for someone with a busy schedule since several appointments are combined into one to save you time. You will take one or more pills by mouth. You remain conscious and able to respond to simple requests made by the dentist, but you will be sedated and largely unaware of time. Sedation patients often describe feeling like they "snoozed" through the appointment. Oral conscious sedation medications are more effective than using laughing gas alone. Sedation allows your fear and anxiety to disappear and leaves you with little memory of your visit.  

how it works

You are given a small pill to take an hour prior to your dental appointment. Due to the sedative effects of the medication, you will need someone to drive you to our office.

By the time you arrive, you will be very drowsy. You will be escorted into the comfort room, covered with a thick, warm blanket and placed on a monitor to watch your vital signs. This little pill will work rapidly to create a relaxed state. Although you are in a deeply relaxed sleep-like state, you are responsive.

Beyond creating an optimal environment for you, sedation dentistry allows us to complete multiple treatments in one appointment. You can relax from two to six hours. The time you are in the deep relaxed state will vary depending on your needed treatment and type of anesthesia delivered.

When your treatment is completed, you will be escorted to your car by a member of the dental team. Then your companion will take you home. The next day, you will feel refreshed and glad you visited The Dental Suite for the health and beauty of your smile!
